AMELOU DAWN A. CATAGUE

Policy Advocacy Officer

Seeing fireflies at night and chasing dragonflies was a norm for Rain growing up. Her parents introduced her to birds and told her their names along with stories. These days, Champ her cat wakes her up, begging for food as early as four o’clock. Rain loves animals; she is a nurturer being a licensed nurse before she pursued a law degree with the goal of speaking and fighting for animals. She dreams to set up a sanctuary for neglected dogs and cats someday.

Joining IDIS, Rain realized that there is more to environment and wildlife conservation than the traditionally visible tree planting or coastal clean-ups. She is excited to be in a better position to promote environmental advocacies and be part of the large networks and partners working for environmental protection.

Prior to IDIS, Rain worked as a legal researcher and host of Radyo Ukay 819 kHz in Davao City. She also volunteered for Philippine Eagle Foundation, under their Research and Conservation Division. She hopes to become a lawyer soon and become an expert in environment and natural resources law. She completed her degree BS Nursing from San Pedro College and Bachelor of Laws from Cor Jesu College.
