PRESS RELEASE05-20-2021 This month, the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) announced that the desired time for stopping or dropping in designated bike lanes is four minutes. Beyond that, if caught, the violator will be issued a citation ticket.While the Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS) Inc. appreciates the effort of CTTMO to minimize the obstructions on bike lanes, this act contradicts the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Code of Davao City. Under the Traffic Code of Davao City, particularly Section 23, provides that motor vehicles are prohibited from being driven or parked on any lane of a public street or path reserved exclusively for bicycles and provided with a sign bearing a symbol of a bicycle. Davao City has already installed and demarcated streets and pathways exclusively or shared with bicycles. PRESS RELEASE: WMC issues guidelines for recreational activities in watershed areas in Davao City

PRESS RELEASE05-26-2021 The Watershed Management Council (WMC) recently issued Resolution No. 3 prohibiting trekking activities in watershed areas and Resolution no. 4 which adopted the proposed guidelines for recreational activities in watershed areas of Davao City. These resolutions were issued in response to the call of the Bantay Bukid volunteers to regulate trekking activities and other recreational activities in Mt. Tipolog and Panigan-Tamugan Watershed. The said activities resulted in accumulation of large volumes of solid waste that are left behind by the campers. PRESS RELEASE: IDIS commends City Council on the passage of ‘Single-use Plastics Regulation Ordinance’

PRESS RELEASE03-05-2021 DAVAO CITY – The Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS) Inc. lauded the 19th City Council of Davao City for passing last Tuesday the ordinance regulating the sale, distribution, and use of single-use plastics in the City. On its third and final reading, the city councilors unanimously voted to pass the said ordinance. With this ordinance, single-use plastics such as drinking cups, ice cream cups, condiments or gravy containers, cup lids, stirrers, cutleries, straws, meal boxes, pastry or cake boxes, egg containers or clamshells, balloon sticks, and hand gloves are no longer allowed to be sold, used, or distributed for free without a special permit to distribute and/or use single-use plastic products. PRESS RELEASE05-05-2021City govt, IDIS, DCWD, DACS launch 8th Lunhaw Awards Celebration The Lunhaw Committee launched the 8th Dabaw Lunhaw Awards Celebration 2021 today. The Lunhaw Awards is an annual event in Davao City that gives due recognition to Dabawenyos that have innovative, environment-friendly, and sustainable practices in their respective homes, establishments, farms, or offices. The event was initiated by IDIS, Davao City Water District, Davao Association of Catholic Schools, City Agriculturist Office, and City Environment and Natural Resources Office nine years ago. By virtue of Executive Order 29 issued by Mayor Sara Duterte, Lunhaw Awards is conducted every September which is also declared as Lunhaw Month with annual budget appropriation.
