IDIS Annual Report 2018

2018 was a fruitful year for environmental policy work in Davao City with at least four ordinances passed, including the long-awaited declaration of Brgy. Sibulan as an organic zone and the amendments to the City’s Zoning Ordinance to protect the Urban Ecological Enhancement Sub-Zone portion of Shrine Hills. Green practices continued to be replicated from private individuals and organizations to the Local Government Units who were recognized for the first time in last year’s Lunhaw Awards. Partnerships likewise expanded in 2018 to South Central Mindanao as well as with international organizations in Japan for anti-aerial spraying campaign and IPEN for our campaign against toxic chemicals. https://mostbet-games.net/ru/ Download full report here – Annual Report 2018 (link).

GIVE TO NATURE – Adopt a Tree, Support a BantayBukid

Panigan-Tamugan Watershed, our next source of drinking water in Davao City, is feeling the effects of climate change with extreme heat and intense rainfall resulting in mature trees cut down, soil erosion in riverbanks and dried up creeks. We rely on our BantayBukid volunteers to conduct continuous reforestation efforts to maintain the health of our watersheds so we get continuous water supply. They do this by maintaining nurseries of native species, planting trees regularly, replacing seedling mortality and conducting weeding to help seedlings grow to full maturity.

Christmas Gift Idea 3: Spend Time Outdoors!

While gifts may be nice, quality time this holiday may also be what our loved ones need. This Christmas why not try some outdoor activities that are not only good bonding activities with family or friends, they are also good for your health and for our environment. Check out public parks here in Davao that you may visit. Visit Shrine Hills for bird watching and other garden and nature resorts in Davao.

Christmas Gift Idea 2: Go Organic!

This Christmas, why not feed your loved ones with fresh, organic and safe food? Order fruits, vegetables and other organic products from our local farmers who continue with indigenous, chemical-free farming amidst the tough market competition with commercial establishments.
