DAVAO CITY – Last January, the Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) announced the “rehabilitation and replacement” of dead trees on the entire center islands from the corner of St. John Paul II College to corner Ecowest Drive. With this, a total of sixteen (16) Acacia auriculiformis or Acacia will be “removed and replaced” once the Notice to Proceed (NTP) is issued by the City Engineer’s Office. They said that the project will reduce the traffic congestion and improve the drainage system as the local government plans to develop the said area.
According to CENRO, the roots of old acacia trees will also be removed for the drainage improvement. But they assured that they will replace it and develop the center islands as linear parks.
