DAVAO CITY – Groups from civil society, the academe and the local government launched Thursday an awards event recognizing outstanding green initiatives in Davao City.
The “Lunhaw Awards aims to recognize and honor Davaoeños with commendable innovative initiatives in environmental management and sustainability.”
The awards is in line with various events in an EcoFestival set from June 24-30.
Entries will be selected according to the following themes: Energy and Water Conservation, Marine Resource, Green Building and Urban Greening, Forest-based initiatives, Pollution Control, Organic Agriculture and Education/Advocacy.
The awards is open to categories: individuals, peoples organizations, schools, small and medium-sized enterprises, and civil society groups.
The launch marks the beginning of the application process. Applications and nominations can be sent through the organizers’ offices. Application form can be downloaded at www.idisphil.org/lunhaw-awards
The tentative deadline for applications is on January 16, 2016. Winners will be announced during the Araw ng Dabaw celebration in March 2016.
The initiative is organized annually by the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro), Davao Association of Catholic Schools (Dacs), Davao City Water District (DCWD), and the Interface Development Interventions (Idis). (Diane C. Tomale, DAVAO TODAY)
