FLORENCE C. BAULA

Knowledge Management Specialist

Florence started her work in government service as the Regional Information Officer of DSWD’s operations in the island provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. It was there that she worked with the poorest of the poor, vulnerable groups and disadvantaged sectors having managed communications for flagship anti-poverty projects such as KALAHI-CIDSS and Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program.

She gained experience in the environment sector after handling knowledge management of USAID-FPE funded Forest Restoration in Key Biodiversity Areas project and REDD-Plus project implemented by Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme and Fauna & Flora International Philippines.

Before she joined IDIS, she worked as a Project Officer for FPE where she handled grants management. She realized though that she belongs to the field and her strengths are more fitted for an advocacy NGO.  When an opportunity opened up in IDIS, she then left Manila and transferred to Davao. She is excited to discover for herself the bounty of what has been dubbed as the land of promise.

Florence enjoys taking long bus rides, collecting stamps, and learning about the indigenous peoples of Mindanao. She is a graduate of Development Communication from UP Los Baños and has started MA in Philippine Studies at the Asian Center in UP Diliman. She plans to take up Anthropology and specialize in culture and the environment. She hopes to document indigenous people’s contributions as the world’s pioneer conservationists.
